Do you want to teach emergency care training?
For those new to emergency care training, the three step instructor certification process outlined below will get you started. If you are a current health care provider, such as an EMT, First Responder, or if you have CPR/first aid training, you can skip Step One.
Step One
Attend and successfully complete student-level training for the programs you wish to teach. This will provide you with an understanding of the course content and the physical skills necessary to be able to perform effective emergency care. If you currently possess these skills, you've already completed Step One!
Step Two
Familiarize yourself in the comfort of your home with our instructor self-study system. This process explains the nuts and bolts of the MEDIC FIRST AID instructional design and basic class administration. Condensing this traditional classroom-based information into a self-paced resource reduces time spent in the classroom.
Step Three
This session is designed to help new instructors become skilled in presenting the instructional elements found in MEDIC FIRST AID Training Programs, including Real-time Demonstrations, Small Group Practices, Talk-Through Scenarios, and Performance Evaluations.
Once an instructor, you'll be eligible to purchase student materials and teach certified MEDIC FIRST AID Training Programs!
Facilitator Renewal Information - Annual Renewal, Permit to Teach
There is a facilitator (Instructor, Trainer, and Master) renewal form that needs to be signed on an annual basis. This document has statement that in part identifies the facilitator agreeing to maintain the standards of EMP Canada. This is the document that is signed by all EMP Canada facilitators nationally.
In addition to the completion and signing of the form there is a minimal renewal fee that helps to cover the costs relating to the following:
• the facilitator and student national registry which keeps track of both facilitators and students that successfully complete training. Further, it allows EMP Canada to secure statistical information that can help both the facilitators and their training centres with marketing strategies.
• facilitator meetings that we send out which include the CEO Reports and standard updates, etc.
• the opportunity to purchase facilitator insurance at a much lower cost than can be secured in the open market.
• a toll free number that all of the facilitators are able to use when they have questions or concerns and require data regarding course presentations, etc.
• the MEDIC FIRST AID course recognitions that we have received from both the Federal and Provincial governments throughout Canada.
• the facilitator and student registry that allows us to replace student cards when they are lost and to track or confirm student completions when it is needed
• the referral service that provides training opportunities for facilitators and training centres
The list goes on and will continue to grow as our presence in the provinces of Canada grows. The mention of these benefits is only to identify the overheads that EMP Canada is subject to and consequently why there is an annual renewal fee.
However, EMP Canada does recognize that this annual renewal fee can cause a hardship for those facilitators who have multiple certifications and conduct a variety of MEDIC FIRST AID training programs. With this in mind, EMP Canada has revised the facilitator fees.
