CONSIDERATIONS:
a. If your work or future work requires you to complete any form of training, be sure to check with the company whether or not they require a practical component as part of your training. All of our Online Courses will meet Provincial and National Legislation however some industries or companies may have “in-house” requirements which cannot be fulfilled through Online Training.
b. If your employer / company requires a practical / hands-on experience component you have two options:
i. To complete the Online Training and then be evaluated by a certified trainer in your facility / company or independently. (We strongly recommend this approach.)

capacity to be effective is installed in the workplace in accordance with the

Every employer shall
(a) take every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of his
employees;
(b) comply with this Act, the regulations and any order made in accordance with
this Act or the regulations; and
(c) ensure that his employees comply with this Act, the regulations and any
order made in accordance with this Act or the regulations.
Section 275(1) of Regulations 91-191 states that:
"No employee shall commence a welding, cutting, burning or soldering operation unless the employee has thoroughly inspected the entire area surrounding the area around the operation to ensure that all combustible, flammable or explosive material, dust, gas or vapour has been removed from the area, if possible, or that adequate precautions have been taken to prevent fire or explosion."
Section 275(3) of Regulations 91-191 states that:
"An employer and an employee shall each ensure that suitable fire extinguishing equipment in good working order is readily available where any welding, cutting, burning or soldering operation or any other allied process using heat application is performed."

(a) shall, where it is reasonably practicable, provide and maintain a workplace
and the necessary equipment, systems and tools that are safe and without
risk to the health of his or her workers;

(1) The design and occupancy of structures and the provision of fire alarm and
detection equipment and fire protection equipment, in places of
employment, shall comply with the Fire Prevention Act, 1991 and an

(2) Fire alarm and detection equipment and fire protection equipment shall be
maintained according to the manufacturer's instructions and any other
requirements of provincial legislation.

Section 13(1)
Every employer shall take every precaution that is reasonable in the circumstances to
(a) ensure the health and safety of persons at or near the workplace;
(b) provide and maintain equipment, machines, materials or things that are
properly equipped with safety devices;
(c) provide such information, instruction, training, supervision and facilities as
are necessary to the health or safety of the employees;
(d) ensure that the employees, and particularly the supervisors and foremen,
are made familiar with any health or safety hazards that may be met by
them at the workplace;
(e) ensure that the employees are made familiar with the proper use of all
devices, equipment and clothing required for their protection; and
(f) conduct the employer's undertaking so that employees are not exposed to
health or safety hazards as a result of the undertaking.

manufacturer or required by the regulations;

Fire extinguishers shall be
(a) protected from mechanical injury;
(b) located for easy access at suitably marked stations; and
(c) maintained in good operating condition.

that the health and safety of workers at the place of employment is

(a) each industrial open-flame portable heating device, tar pot or asphalt kettle
that is in use; and
(b) each welding or cutting operation that is in progress.
