This Fork Lift / Lift Truck program makes participants aware of their legal responsibilities and provides the required information to achieve the theory portion of becoming a competent operator. Once the course has been completed a hands-on practical evaluation must be completed within your facility.

64(1) An employer must ensure that a lifting device is only operated by a competent
worker authorized by the employer to operate the equipment.
64(2) At the employer’s request, an operator, before operating a lifting device, must be able
to demonstrate that the worker is competent in the equipment’s operation and
knowledgeable about load charts and the code of signals for hoisting operations.
64(3) No worker other than the competent worker authorized by the employer may operate a
lifting device.

22.29(2) No employer shall issue a certificate to a worker to operate a powered lift truck unless

truck in accordance with a code of practice approved and issued under the Act;
(b) is familiar with the operating procedures of the truck that the worker will be
operating; and
(c) has demonstrated competency in the operation of the truck that the worker will be
operating in accordance with the code of practice referred to in clause (a).

assigned work in a manner that will ensure the health and safety of persons,
(b) knowledgeable about the provisions of the Act and the regulations that apply to
the assigned work, and
(c) knowledgeable about potential or actual danger to health or safety connected
with the assigned work

204(2) Subject to subsections (3), (4) and (5), an employer or contractor shall:
(a) designate a worker to operate a hoist, crane or lifting device;
(b) ensure that the designated operator is trained in the operation of that hoist, crane
or lifting device; and
(c) ensure that no worker operates a hoist, crane or lifting device other than a
designated operator.
204(6) No worker shall operate a hoist, crane or lifting device unless the worker is a
designated operator and has been trained in the operation of that hoist, crane or
lifting device.
